I was concerned that the shaft might bend since it's retractable but I haven't noticed anything after several uses. I have a cheap paddle for my other kayak that bent very quickly but this one seems much stronger. Performs exactly as I expected.
Adjustable paddle length is a handy feature compared to the manufacturers original paddle and feels stronger. Friends who are taller than me and borrowed my SUP for the weekend were pleased they could adjust the paddle length for maximum leverage.
