Not sure why it was so snug. I bought it for my husband's SUP & it did not fit. Lucky Me! The bag fit my surftech SUP; w/o any extra space to spare. A little bit more room would have been nice, but I didn't wanna send it back. The bag is nice. The extra features show that who ever designed it knew which extras are important. So far the quality has been good, but I have only used it a few times on long distance trips.

Previous reviewer is right on. The removable shoulder strap is a joke - I have the 14' bag and put a relatively mid-weight board (Bark 100% carbon at about 28 pounds) in the bag and was walking slowly (not even bouncing the board or stressing the strap) and the plastic buckle broke. Good news was... I was in grass and so the board was not damaged from the drop. Bad news was... because I was in grass, I could not locate the little black plastic piece that had exploded from the buckle assembly.
