I've used three different kinds of fins in three capacities: lifeguarding, bodysurfing, and free diving, but the main reason I have a pair of fins is for bodysurfing, and that's where UDTs excel.
Don't get me wrong, they're great for lifeguarding though there are more compact fins that would be fine for water rescues since you don't need the quick acceleration these fins provide when getting to your victim or puling them in. For that, you need a compact fin you can strap on quickly that will provide sustained extra speed over the course of what may be a long swim. The voit duck feet are great for that and churchills would be fine as well.
For free diving, these fins are perfectly fine, though if you talk to the equipment snobs they'll tell you you need a pair of three hundred dollar free diving fins. Don't listen to them. If you're advanced enough to benefit from super nice equipment, you probably already know what fins wor......
