surfboards are fully seated and not hear any sound during the trip, with detailed installation instructions on the vehicle, the only downside is that the strings attached to the vehicle finish closing the door adjustment.
I completely disagree with Matthew. I tried a Block soft rack with cam buckles before I tried this FCS rack with D-rings. The Block rack was less secure and made a lot more noise, though I used it before I learned about twisting the straps. It takes a little while to get used to the D-rings on the FCS and to find the proper placement on your car, but once you do, the rack is extremely secure and quiet. Make sure to twist the straps that touch the roof at least one full twist. Otherwise the strap can act like a reed in woodwind and cause the roof to vibrate and hum like crazy.
These are great if you don't have a roof rack and don't want to invest in one. They are cheap, and as long as you strap......
