Although these are mostly intended for surfers, I decided to try these out for river boarding and as a back-up paddling device when kayaking.
When used for swimming or paddling a river board, these work really great and definitely give a bit of extra oomph to your stroke. I was easily able to keep my place in current that I know I would have never been able to swim without these. In fact, the extra force you can exert when using these is possibly enough to injure your shoulder if you try to go full strength-full speed. The risk of injury isn't unique to this product but every product of this type. They are flexible and have good grip as well. I was able to hold onto my body board without a problem. They don't insulate well at all so I recommend using them in warmer water. If you expect to be in colder water, go with a neoprene glove instead.
